I use the 325s for all of my post production audio two mixes. They have been my go to reference monitoring for 20 years in my project studio so the role the ear cups play in sonic management is critical. The fact that fiting the cups to the seating rims was dodgy is a probable future concern.

The original cushions would isolate the sound within the cushion and block the sound from outside.. They also would keep the speaker off your ears. The new cushions don't do that. I'm sorry you couldn't do better with your design
I am very happy with the F replacement cushions. They seem to increase the very low frequencies of my old SR325 headphones - now they sound more like the SR325x headphones I recently purchased.
